There is a Vibe in the Soup: Part IX

1 minute read time.

I think it is a strong cup of tea for this, but not too hot – remember we are talking oesophageal cancer here. (Have you looked at recent research about very hot tea and oesophageal cancer?  But we will leave that just now.) And you might as well make it organic, green tea for those anti-oxidants.

Or, alternatively, bump up the ‘meds’ again.

Here is the British, budget, ‘social realism’ script  with (Gordon Brown has promised) grit.

Let us set the scene at the rural idyll:  the heating oil has almost run out; the wood for the wood-burning stove has almost run out; the water going into Septic Tank is only allowed down in little trickles (goodness knows what horrors will be found when it thaws); what used to be a step down out of the front door, is now a step up.   There is no possibility of driving down to the ‘expert’ in the not-so-exotic-and-now-very-cold-indeed-South in the hired 4x4 while the dog-sitter looks after The Hounds – which was the initial plan.  Even getting out of the drive requires a great deal of digging by M/M/M Wife.

The kindly secretary of our ‘expert’ assures us they will be doing business as usual with their magic lights, whatever the weather and, yes, the week after next will do fine.

Does Our Hero want to wait?  No, of course he doesn’t.

You must remember he still hasn’t had his Christmas lunch, or any lunch, other than soup (with vibes) for months.

So tomorrow it is out with the shovel and off to the airport.  Unfortunately, M/M/M Wife will not be able to benefit from the comfortable hotel room, with working plumbing, which she had booked for Our Hero and herself; she will have to go back to Cold Comfort Cottage to look after The Hounds.

She is not happy about the prospect of Our Hero going off on his own   But she doesn’t know what else to do. And she thinks she has made a mess of this plan.

So there is the script.  I preferred the first version.

Even the Italian lessons are not going to be able to put me to sleep tonight.

I am so sorry that you won't be able to make the journey too - even if only to have some home comforts for a night.

I hope the time that your hero is away isn't too stressful for you but bear in mind what is happening while he is there and focus on that Christmas dinner!

Love and strength as always xx

Ah but we need, at this point, to think of the gritty British small budget successes there have been ........ I am thinking 'The Full Monty' ....... but on second thoughts with temperatures the way they are, may be not such a good idea.  Okay then, what about 'Billy Elliot' ... you could pirouette your way over the snow drifts, or possibly 'Chariots of Fire' - the very thing, we will overcome and triumph.

By George I think I've got it ..... 'Local Hero'  yes that will do nicely, because I think it describes perfectly our Bold Hero and the lady that surely has to win the Oscar for Best in a Supporting Role.

    Hi Grace

Well it was lovely to speak to the leading lady, even if we didn't get a chance to go over the script in person.  Hope the drive home with the Hounds from Hell goes okay, and next time you are near this 'hospitality trailer' or 'green room' is open to both the star and his leading lady.

    Speak soon - Judi xx
