Drink to Our Hero

Less than one minute read time.

Jonathan died this morning at 10.30 am.

Because he never thought he was going to die - or not for another thirty years, as he frequently pointed out  - we never discussed funerals.  He did say, however, that he wished he had thought of Picasso's last words first which reputedly went something like this:  'Drink for me friends, for I will drink no more.'

So, raise a glass to Our Hero, who really was the perfect, gentle knight and loved by all.

 Jonathan Watson Humphrey, 1957 - 2010.

    Dear Grace,

Belated condolences and sympathy for all you have and now continue to endure.

Sadly you have joined the bereaved; it is a growing band.

Thanks to all your blogs I got an insight into the character and nature of your Jonathan and the Buzzie household's comings and goings.

I know that behind the readability of your ponderings there was the terror that loomed. But you put a humanity into your writings, which gave us insight without scaring the life out of us. I just wish the outcome could have been different.

I feel diminished by your loss in the John Donne sense. ie "No man is an island entire of itself"

As requested I will recall all you have laid before us and raise a glass.

    Thinking of you

    Charles xxx

I've only just learned the devastating news and words cannot express my sorrow. Our Hero was truly our community's Hero and we share your heartbreak and loss.  My heart goes out to you. May the Almighty give you strength. xxx Carol
