Drink to Our Hero

Less than one minute read time.

Jonathan died this morning at 10.30 am.

Because he never thought he was going to die - or not for another thirty years, as he frequently pointed out  - we never discussed funerals.  He did say, however, that he wished he had thought of Picasso's last words first which reputedly went something like this:  'Drink for me friends, for I will drink no more.'

So, raise a glass to Our Hero, who really was the perfect, gentle knight and loved by all.

 Jonathan Watson Humphrey, 1957 - 2010.

Must be all this drinking to Jonathan but I can think of nothing else and hope you are coping and have family/friends at your side. As you have read everyone 'here' is thinking of you both and is full of admiration for your strength and humour...a real rock at his side which enabled him to be the hero which he was...........xxx

  • Grace,  I am so sorry you have to share this news, your hero fought such a brave fight and I wish I had some words of comfort, other than to hope that with time the happy times and memories return

you will be in my thoughts and prayers

    gentle hug

  • Dear Grace

I am so shocked and saddened at your news and my heart reaches out to you in your grief.  Our Hero was such an indomitable spirit that we thought he would live forever.

You have my deepest sympathy Grace, and continued support at any time.

I will raise a glass in honour of Jonathan, who will live on in his beautiful paintings.

"Those who are able to paint, to paint the best, are the beginnings of something that will last a long time to come; they will go on existing as long as there are eyes capable of enjoying something that is specifically beautiful".  Vincent Van Gogh 1888.

    With love

    Crystal xx
