But the subject of this irregular blog is a quote originally from his play The Tempest.
"Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows"
This has, over the intervening centuries, been borrowed by many writers, not least of whom was Charles Dickens who gave us the more well known version of adversity rather than misery.
By now you will be wondering where I am heading with all this, hopefully you'll stick around to find out, because in amongst the ramblings I hope I am putting my point across.
Like most of the storms in the bedpans that flare up on this site I didn't see the offending posts in this instance about Drew's blog and his but I did see the photograph of his personal Arse Horribilus and in no way was I offended. I have followed Drew's blog almost since he joined the whatnow site and during that time the only offence has been that he writes far far better than I ever could. I have muttered and scuttered a time or three "I wish I had put it like that"
Dree's blog has inspired me and made me thankful time after time that I was fortunate to only have what I term as cancer lite. But even that experience makes me have no time for bulls**t, either my own or other peoples nowadays. To put it in the unique manner of Humphrey Littleton The rose coloured spectacles of wishful thinking are thrown deep into the kitchen drawer of life.
So I hope that the people who want to withdraw from participating will reconsider because it's always the best who do that. I would also like to point people towards a BBC webpage and maybe, just maybe, they could think of somebody who they would think as a suitable person. I know I did immediately.
