My surgery results were on Monday 20th August. The surgery recovery took my mind off the stress of my results a little but the last few dys before the results were pretty horrendous. I was getting so hung up on the number of effected lymph nodes and what it might mean.
My mum and husband came with me and as I approached the clinic I began to panic. I was absolutely dreading what my surgeon was going to tell me. She came into the room with a smile on her face, I can vividly remember thinking "what the hell are you smiling about!", it turns out my pathology report was brilliant, they think they got all the cancer out - 4 small areas, with clear margins - 6mm AND the best bit was that ALL my lymph nodes were CLEAR!!! After them initially thinking one of the small lumps was a lymph node!
My further treatment remains the same however I was told to celebrate the news! I was told chemo would be about 4-6 weeks way then radiotherapy, herceptin and tamoxifen.
