Day +26: Got my exam done!

1 minute read time.
Well yesterday was a bit of rough, and utterly pointless day, in hospital but they let me out at 9pm to come home so I could get a good nights sleep before my exam even though I had a load of medication to come home and do once I got back. Still I slept well and made my way to the exam, still a bit worried I was going to be stuck in a little room with loads of other people but as soon as I explained it to the envigilators they sorted it out and I was put in to a computer room with just one other person. The exam itself went alright, it was kinda cobbled together from first year lecture slides and loosely based on the project we've been doing this year. Some of the questions weren't even in proper english... another victory for higher education. At least thats one less module I don't have to do next year, should make for a far easier year. I think my chances of getting a first rate degree have slipped thanks to this but I think I should get a good 2:1 and hopefully if its a high enough 2:1 I can have a review on my effort and get it bumped up to a first. Well I'm in hospital tonight by the looks of things seeing I'm on this course of antibiotics I can't take at home, which is a shame but I don't think it'l be more than a day or so, I feel good in myself and the Doctor's definately know that so we'll see. Hopefully I'll get home for the weekend to see my family and some of my friends.

Hi Will, fab news about the exam - good for you! I would absolutely ensure 100% that the Uni is well appraised of your situation, that it is fully documented and supported by letters etc from the hospital. I am sure you have done this, but it is worth your reiterating and checking - I say as I know how 'stuff' can get lost!!! It would be a travesty to go from a First Class to a  2:1 because of illness which you could not have avoided. A good 2:1 is still a 2:1 and will never read as any more if a selection decision has to be made between you and someone else. In the light of what you have been through and based on sound assessment throughout the last two years,  any potential for a good 2:1 to be upgraded to a first class should be explored.

Can I presume you picked up an infection and went back into hpospital, last I knew you were at home?

That aside you have done so well. Everyone must be so proud of how you have faced up to this huge challenge in your life. Fantastic.

Hope you will be home again soon.

    Take care Will!

    WIth love, Debbie xx
