My kidney cancer diary

1 minute read time.
My cancer journey first started when a lump appeared on my chest in November 2007. After initially being told it was a cist I used my private health care to get a second opinion and after many scans and a biopsy was told it was a secondary tumour, the primary being in my kidney with mets to lungs Jan 2008 I had chest tumour removed in what was a long and complicated operation. Then I was sent to see an Oncologist who then informed me I had primarys in both kidneys. I was lucky as the chest surgeon said had he known I had cancer in both kidneys then he would not have done the operation. Then I was put on Sutent and the drug has been fantastic for me. Both kidney tumours have shrunk and in march 2009 had the first of two partial nephrectomys. as I was taken off the Sutent for this operation and as I had been on it for such a long time there were no guarantees it would work again , it was decided to keep me of the drug and go straight into the second operation which was done early 5th June 09. I am now recovering from the two operations before another scan to see where we are. The lung mets have so far remained stable and oncologist is not 100% convinced they are active at all or are indeed cancer. My journey continues. I write a blog on share called "My diary of kidney cancer (to be continued)"
