The Weekend

1 minute read time.

I had a good weekend. I'm still super excited about entering the International Street Photography Awards over Christmas. I should try to forget about it a little (I have my mind on something else as well though hehe), but I'm just so excited about it. I don't know why. I've never won a photography competition before. But you gotta dream big, else what's the point? Actually it's just as well the first prize doesn't involve a Leica camera or I'd be quite disappointed if I didn't win. To give you an idea of how deluded I am, last year there were over 6000 entries. Just being picked as one of the 10 finalists would be a huge achievement. But who remembers or want's to be a runner up? No one. I remind myself that I didn't get into photography for the competitions. I just love interpreting the world around me, my way. It feels good and it feel right. And lets face it, you hang on to shit like that, because that's what you do ;)

I guess you're wondering (for those that don't follow my life a little closer than just this blog) what my entry looks like. So wonder no more. I actually bought another photography book today. It's called 'The Photographer's Vision' by Michael Freeman. His books are excellent. I've read his 'The Photographer's Eye' 3 times and made notes on the last 2 reads. It's taught me a huge amount about photography and not just composition but the psychology behind it, which I find fascinating. What do I think of my photos? I think they're pretty rudimentary and cliche. I don't think they're exceptional by any means, and certainly not interesting. I'm hard on myself. Unhealthy, but a fact.

I wish I could write as fast with a pen as I do with a keyboard. Sadly it's just a mess, but of course ultimately it's more personal and meaningful to the person who receives it. Jinkies, it's such a dilemma! *wink wink*

PS I think I'm becoming addicted to blogging, eek!
