History so far.

Male soon to be 69yrs young.

I have had an enlarged prostrate for a few years but I had a green light surgery to reduce the size of the prostrate last November 2023. After that surgery I was left with urinary incontinence which I found very difficult to deal with and today I am about 85% dry, some days are better than others.

Last October 2024 went to the toilet and passed copious amounts of blood, bright red and thick. I went to A&E, was told I had a UTI and given some antibiotics. Anyhow after 6 days the blood vanished and I thought the pills had sorted it. Two weeks later I had more bleeding just the same bright red thick but this time with clots. I saw my GP that day and was put on the cancer pathway.

So far I have had a PSA blood test which was normal, I had a CT scan which was clear except for small Kidney cysts but I don't know which kidney/s or the size. I am booked in for a ridgid cystoscopy on the 24th January under general anesthesia. I asked that this cystocopy was done after Christmas because last Christmas I was still recovering from the prostrate reduction surgey and Christmas was a rough time.

Since my surgery pre-assesment on the 13th December 2024 I have started having daily pain in the left side lower abdomen which spreads to the hip area and into my lower back, I have had 3 more episodes of bleeding which seem to be roughly 2 weeks apart, the bleeding lasts for 3/4 days with clots and some are very large and difficult to pass but thankfully I do pass them and have avoided a trip to hospital. During the bleeding I drink lots to help pass the clots and other than that I'm extremely tired all the time.

I know something is radically wrong every cell in my body is screaming at me but I don't know what it is, it could be something not at all serious or it could be cancer but where is it? The Bladder or the Prostrate or somewhere further up toward the Kidneys. I'll know on the 24th and for me if they find nothing then that too would be bad because i know I can't afford to keep losing blood at the amounts I'm losing...Just an aside this blood loss has been witnessed x 2 by medical staff. Knowing what I know now I'm at a loss why the medical staff in A&E did not investigate further last October knowing the amount of blood loss and the size of the clots. I'm a lot better prepared now with regard to questioning medical staff.
