Chat with Mum

1 minute read time.
Just got off the phone with mum who has finished her consolidation round of chemo Saturday 10th Jan 09. She is still in Christies hospital in Manchester and is doing extremely well. Mum was in such a bubbly mood it so was lovely. She was showing off how much she had eaten today, even though it wasn't a lot, it was better than some days. She said she had been on her bicycle in the bathroom!!! I didn't even know she had one. What she meant was it was an exercise thing with just the pedals, and she can sit in the bathroom and exercise her legs. She is managing to get round the room with no walking stick, so she is doing well. It seems this round of chemo isn't half as bad as the Induction one. I think it was because she was so ill when she got admitted the first time and then she contracted Pneumonia. It's been lovely to able to email my dad on his laptop with free wifi on behalf of the hospital and keep in touch everyday. Most days I ring mum and have a chat and it makes my day when I hear her voice. The nurse was in giving her an injection to kickstart her neutraphils today, they are at 0.5 I think so they have gone up since Friday. She said if she hadn't lived so faraway from the hospital, they would have let her home now, but they daren't risk it, so are keeping her a bit longer til her counts get better. She can't wait to sleep in her own bed and just do normal day to day things. My mum is in full remission and docs say there are less than 5% blasts in her bloodstream. So isn't that good news. What a fighter my mum is, and I just wanted to tell you all how much she is loved. Binnie xx

Hi Belinda hope the news is still good any sign of your mum getting home yet. Bert has had another weepy day his mood has been great this time so I don't know whats wrong I don't think he does either. Apart from low blood pressure he seems to be doing ok his bloods are a little slow coming up but other than that he is fine. I have a half day tomorrow so will visit early and try and cheer him up

You take care of yourself and Love to your mum
