Recovery is slow

1 minute read time.

Hello everyone not been able to write much as i have been in hospital nearly all of march since finshing my RT, i had a bit of a relapse and my throat shrunk making me unable to eat solid food, i was only able to swallow small amounts of water.

I lost over 5 stone in weight, was admitted to hospital on 8th March where i was put on fluids and was as the consultant says close to death with the weight loss, they where unable to do anything until my fluid and pottassium levels had stabilised, then i had a PEG tube fitted and i began the slow road to recovery, i still am unable to work as i am on crutches, my family and friends have been brilliant.

i am thinking about whether or not to put a complaint in about my oncologist as he didnt listen to anything i said throo my treatment, i asked for the PEG tube as a precaution, he in my mind didnt want to go throo that route, i am looking for advice on what to do ?????

The treatment was a bit harrowing at times my partner has been great and so have my brother he travelled up from dorset where he lives to visit me in hospital last month, his reason was he didnt want to be an only child.

I am getting there slowly, having just moved house too as i wernt able to lift anything i got my 3 boys to do all the heavy lifting and am gonna treat them with a bigger than normal easter egg . i get very emotional know that the PEG tube cuold be in for another 3 or 4 months till my throat gets better.

I would like to thank all the nurses on Waddington Unit at Lincoln Hospital and the dieticians for helping me out with the feed etc and getting me back on the road to recovery, and also the nurses and care assisstants at Fresubin Kabi for keeping in touch after i was released.

will keep upto date now i am back on the www

I could not advise you about lodging a complaint Biggles but what I would say is only you know what you have been through so just follow your gut instinct,eh!

Don't fret about the PEG. I had mine in for 8 months.
