day 1

Less than one minute read time.
Today is the 17th of feb 2009 We were told mum shouldnt have treatment yesterday as it wouldnt help her, its finally starting to sink in slowly and i HATE it. she has so much to live for, my sisters wedding in july and the main focus is watching her grandchildren grow up. I have found that the doctors arnt actually very helpful which hurts so im arranging for her to see a private specialist to see if he can help anymore. I also found a book about natrual ways to fight cancer and i normally dont belive in that kind of stuff but the re-views have been AMAZING!! on the bright side my mum is very strong and she just keeps saying im not going anywhere yet so im glad she is that kind of person. Anyways i send my love to who ever else is going though this nasty illness. Lets just keep fighting day by day xxxxxx

My husband has inoperable cancer of the gullet; he is having palliative chemotherapy and is feeling ok. Can only tell next month if it has worked or not. He had radiotherapy which helped a lot with the tumour in his oesophagus. There are lots of people who are surviving longer with this cancer at a late stage - try googling Cathy's EC cafe and join the mailing group there. They have helped us a lot. Palliative chemotherapy may not be too unpleasant to cope with (my husband feels 'off' for 2 days a week with his weekly dose) but everyone is different. The major operation I would not really wish on anyone.Good luck.
