first proper chat with a doctor since being told of my cancer

Less than one minute read time.
saw a chest psycician today who explained my c.t. scan results not very good news, upshot is a brochoscopy next Thursday plus an echocardiogram because of fluid around my heart then it can be decided what treatment will be best for me.At the moment although I am fully aware what is going on it is still very hard to get my head around it

The whole period of diagnosis and referral is a terrible one, with one's mind trying to get to grips with this completely new world we've suddenly found ourselves in.  I'm very sorry to hear of your "not very good news" on the CT scan, and want to wish you the best of luck with the ensuing bronchoscopy and cardiogram.  Make sure that everything is explained to you thoroughly, so that you know what is happening, as knowledge of "the enemy" is a good place to start fighting it mentally.  I know there is so much to sort out -  breaking news to family and friends, preparing for treatment, dealing with work and finances but hopefully having come into this very friendly site will provide some tips for you in issues we have all shared.  Bavie, you are no longer alone with this, and we are all willing you on now.  I want to wish you the very best of luck, and I will keep thinking of you pending hearing your results.  xxx Penny

Thankyou so much Penny for replying so quickly I am not very clever when using a computer and this is the first time I have ever written anything like this. It's comforting to know that although you don't know me you are there to support me in the weeks and months to come, and good news and bad news as well.I also take on board when you say to make sure that anything I don't understand to have it explained to me Thankyou again xxx Bavie
