bit of a change since joining

Less than one minute read time.
well as everyone will know when i joined as far as i was aware i was having tests for a shadow on my lung. my doctor reasured me he didnt think it was serious as i didnt have any symtons and was in good health. oh how that has soon changed a ct scan revealed a mass on my right lung which they are almost sure its cancer.now iam awaiting results from a bronscopy which was quite painless but as left me with some side affects. a tickly cough and a sore throat. my gp has given me antibiotics for this but iam sure the symtons are about to kick in.

Hiya Barb - I suggest you ring cancer back up because you are obviouly worrying that these new symptoms are related to your lung shadow. I think though that it is common to have a sore throat after a bronchoscopy and is probably unrelated to the other. See what they say and try not to worry. Jools x

I think Jools' suggestions are very very good ones.  It could also be a bug that you picked up in the hospital as we all say that you come out with more than you went in with nowadays.  I always try to stand as far away as possible from anyone sneezing when I have to go to the doctors or the hospital.  Also public transport, supermarkets (especially girls on checkouts who are meeting a lot of people themselves), friends' or your own chidren - there are hundreds of ways of catching all the ancillary coughs, sore throats, colds, chest infections that are always going around.  Hopefully it will clear up soon.

When do you get the results of the bronchoscopy?  I have to say that it feels like a very long time since you first went - so I bet it feels weeks and weeks for you.  Haven't they given you a date to go back yet?  xxx Penny

hopefully i will get results sometime this week. when i asked the doctor yesterday about when i will start treament thinking that once i got results they would decide there and then i was shocked when she said it maybe i few weeks down the line. the consultant and everyone else invovled would look at results and make a decsions about what treatment  iwould need.surely after waiting weeks for test results and appointment this has to be the iceing on the cake.

    Hi Barbara,

sorry to hear the news. I hope that you get suitable treatment promptly. Regarding the tickly throat and cough, I wouldn't worry too much. I think it will probably be a result of the Broncoscopy. Since November last year I have had 5 endoscopy's and each time I am left with a sore throat. I dont want to worry you but if it doesn;t clear up fairly fast go to your doctor  and get a sputum check for bacteria. I suffered a very bad cough after the first one and had picked up some bacteria whilst in hospital. A good course of anti-biotics should sort it out. Since that first one the rest have not been a problem..

    Best wishes
