day 19 Bertiebassetts Return Journey

Less than one minute read time.

Much better day today and he does not know anything about what happened yesterday although he remembers that I was there until very late.

The confusion is not nearly so bad today at least he knows who everyone is and where he is.

A CTscan has been arranged so check that there is no spread to his brain.

    Hi Teri

You are in my thoughts, I'm sorry to hear Bertie is confused and i hope you get to the bottom of as to why.  My grandad lived with myelodysplasia for years and was diagnosed with AML in July.  If you ever want to talk, I'm here my dear.

Good luck, I will be thinking of you.   xxxx

    Thanks Reneesha,

Bert was diagnosed with the AML first as they said he did not have Myelodysplasia after a lot of yes he does no he doesn't. they finally said no he doesn't. That was just over a year ago. He was told in May the AML was in remission and he would be fine as far as they could tell. In June he felt so ill and went back for a further bone marrow biopsy to be told he in fact does have Myelodysplasia and probably has had it all along. I now know that the AML is back too. Depending on him regaining remission he is booked for BMT NOv/Dec time.

He had his CT scan of his brain today so we are hoping for a good result. Tonight he is agitated but can't tell me why temp is back down and confusion is not quite so bad more sporadic now.

    Love Teri

    Hi Teri,

I hope the CT scan brings you a positive result.  I hope he gains remission and good luck for the BMT.

I hope you have the support of Macmillan Palliative care nurses etc.  He is very lucky to have your support and although it is sometimes hard it is worth it for our loved ones.  I really do wish you both all the luck in the world and hope he picks up soon.  xx
