Bertiebassett Dec 23rd

Less than one minute read time.

Today has been a very long day as I have been up since 4am Bert woke me up to get him up for the toilet and I could not get back to sleep.

It has also been a very weepy day. The Palliative care nurse was back out and we had a good old weep with her. Then my colleagues from work arrived on the doorstep with a huge Christmas Hamper so there were  more tears.

Bert has had a bad day but he has managed to get to sleep and I can relax for a little while. Hie has lost his appetite which is a shame as he was eating really well

Perhaps I can tempt him with with something nice from the hamper . His  wheelchair arrives tomorrow but we won't be going out as it's too cold. He has an appointment with Haematology so fingers crossed he does not need any blood products until after Christmas. Now I think I will explore all the goodies in the hamper.

Love Teri

May Christmas keep Bert comfortable and painfree.  I thopught that was a nice surprise and a beautiful gesture as to show how much your collegues are thinking of you going through this difficult time.

Keeping my fingers crossed everything goes ok at haematology.  Hopefully you will beable to tempt him with something from the hamper, if not you could ask for a referral to dietician because she can give you lots of advice about it,  the dietician who came to see grandad told us it didn't matter what he ate as long as it had lots of calories to try and build his strength a little.  My nan found it hard to get round to the idea of grandad having apple pie and lots of custard for breakfast but if he fancied it, that what he ate because he too lost his appitite,  full fat milk with extra powdered milk with added strawberry milk powder he said that was refreshing when i made that.  Anyway good luck and don't ever think it is down to your cooking, like my nan, unfortunately it does effect the appitite.  Just got to make sure he is still drinking his fluids with extra nutritian if possible,  my grandad had some buildup drinks too they were called FRESUBIN and come in different flavours, I think my grandad got vanilla and strawberry.  Worth asking about hun.

Take care and wish you both all the best Reneesha x
