I am pissed off...

1 minute read time.
I got in trouble today at the Old peoples' home where I am staying. I guess it was only a matter of time...Trouble was that my son came to visit and had the temerity to eat a slice of toast in the dining room. If they knew that he drank tea and coffee in the villa using "their" milk or used "their" electricity to watch TV then I would be hung drawn and quartered haha... All they think about it the dollar here. I am not even left with enough money after the rent to get my prescriptions. On a happier note... I went to the eye clinic at greenlane today and found (as I knew and tried to tell them) that there was nothing wrong with my sight anymore. I can read now without glasses and only have trouble in really low light situations (like st matthews on sunday night when the humungous church was only lit by half a dozen candles...). Anyway it seems that the brain surgery hasn't left any lasting damage. Amazing given that Lance Armstrong famously said "if they fuck with your brain you are never the same!). I am just 6 months older and wiser as to what I will permit the medical profession do to me..ie: preferably nothing else any more ever. cheers Janet

Oh Janet, your blog has made me feel ashamed to have been involved, in a former life, with care in the community. We used to positively encourage relatives and friends to enjoy tea, coffee and even meals if they were visiting at meal times! There is always something you can offer a visitor, after all it is currently. or should be, viewed as your residence AND it is the season of good will to all mankind! I would drop a note to hte Nursing Home Inspectorate .........

On the flip side I was so pleased to read that your eyesight is now OK - and as we get older none of us can read as well as we could without brighter lights! No idea how we all read by torch light under the bed clothes as nippers when suposed to be asleep!

Chin up Janet - and draft that note, I can assure you a note to a home for the NI will certainly rattle some bars of the cage, and source will not be revealed.

    Take care, Debbiex

So Janet, did you tell 'em to f'k off!  :)  You know, I get it.  But instead of freaking out, all they had to do was quietly pull your son aside and say, hey, no problem this time, but just so you know...we can't afford to feed the family members when they come to visit, so feel free to bring some food with you when you come.  No big deal!

Anyway, you'll be outta there in short order I hope and it sounds like everything you are doing is going famously!  Well done!  Best,  Lori

A piece of toast? How mean spirited can people be? Me arse on them, Janet. You'll be out of there soon. Buy then a sliced loaf as a parting gift.

    Best wishes, Shelagh
