After the extremes of emotion on Monday it was back to work on Tuesday this week. But as normal with me it was never going to be boring!
Tuesday afternoon saw me driving up to Norwich area in the afternoon and using the trusty sat nav being able to find this strange and probably haunted hotel in deepest darkest Caister on Sea. The doors creaked as you went in and the natives looked at you for just a tad too long - get the picture?
I was staying up there with Terry from work and we were being joined later by Mike about six to do a bit of work before a new client joined us for dinner about 8.30 pm. The room was lovely with a massive double bed in it but a small bathroom. There was a bath but one of those short diddy sized ones. The shower was just about ok if you didn't mind odd jets of water shooting out at strange angles!
Well I unpacked my bag and it was then that I realised my problem. Bum. Now for those not steeped in the fine details of the use of night bags with one's stoma bag there are many different types and sizes to contend with. What works for me are the Salts stoma bag and the Simpla night bags. Get on really well with them and I have found the magnificent technique of the creation of a slight vacuum to ensure that my pee flows from one to the other overnight without problems leaks or airlocks.
However you do need this little plastic connector to join the two things together. And yes you've guessed it - I had forgotten to bring a connector with me on my travels! Bum bum bum.
Deciding to ignore the problem I enjoyed a hearty dinner with all and even had a brandy as a final drink before wending my way back to my room. But I still had my problem - how was I to connect the two together?
I tried forcing the two bits together - didn't work.
I tried using micropore to join then - it didn't work at all.
What could I do?
Bum I thought. There is only one way to do this. Ignore the night bag and set the alarm on my phone to wake me up in two hours to empty the normal bag before it exploded.
Then again in another two hours...
Then again...
Finally I gave in at the 6 am alarm call and showered dressed and went for a early morning walk. Not the best night's sleep but at least I managed it without an "accident". :-)
But Wednesday was fun even if it was work. Spent the morning at the lovely seaside town of Hemsby and then the afternoon at Great Yarmouth where we walked the Golden Mile with our client and people from the Council. Even had time for a stroll by the beach and a nice hot cup of coffee and time to people watch on a beautiful sunny day.
Finishing off the day with a meeting in Norwich I even managed to get home by about 7.30 pm. Thank you M25 for being good to me. :-)
And it was up again early on Thursday morning for a trip down to Brighton and it was yet another glorious day! Got there nice and early and in time for a veggie breakfast at my fav cafe on the seafront. And it was a good day that even included a walk along the pier and made the effort to pick up some hot donuts just before leaving for home.
There are days when I do love my work and this week was good :-)
Back at the office on Friday to catch up on a few work things but then spent the afternoon trying to dream up some ideas on how to get people to visit their local seaside resorts rather than jumping on a plane and off to Spain. Any ideas out there are very welcome!!!
And so it was soon the weekend and back to wedding planning work - help - only four weeks to go!! And that means that the stag and hen events are next Saturday!
And to end this blog today the sun is shining again and all is well in my little world. But let's all take a few seconds out to think of those who have had a bad week or day. Teri - my thoughts are with you and your family and for your Bert.
Sending hugs to all - I know how lucky I am to have you as my friends.
