Thoughts from the frontline - 68

3 minute read time.

I think my brain is full because I have to check my diary to see what I've been doing over the past few days! Need to find the way you can empty the bits of memories you don't want to keep whilst keeping the best bits. Am sure somebody will invent something someday...

Well, back to my life and Wednesday 18th November 2009. A special day because everyday is now special and worth taking pleasure in and the removal men were decanting the old office and bringing it over to our new place in the village. It was so good just to supervise - until C I would have tried to do it all myself, hire a van, persuade a mate to help and them spend the whole day putting my back out and ending up fit for nothing. Today I sat and gave orders :-)

And I laughed when I heard that the van they had brought was too small and they would have to do two trips! An easy time for me and my contribution to job creation in these difficult times ;-)

It took most of the day for the lads to move everything over and get in all in place in the new offices. Sadly the phone lines won't be fixed until next week so I went home soon after they finished. It was such a hard day...

But fun was planned for the evening as T and I were going off to Ascot to a jazz club to hear a band that we might book for our wedding. We only know them from one of the girls in the band's sister works with T and she says they're good. But we think it is worth a journey to check them out.

We get there nice and early but the car park is already full so we have to go and park in the station car park down the road. Oops I think, hope it's not sold out...

We arrive at the door and explain we would like two tickets. "Have you reserved them" we are asked. "Er no" I feebly utter. "Well at the moment we are full but I will see what I can do" and he vanishes upstairs. Bum I thought but at least they seem to be popular.

The nice man appears again and says "I think we can squeeze you in but no more after this" Would we be lucky? We followed him upstairs when we were men by another official looking man. "Oh I'm not sure" he says "You might have to wait to see if someone doesn't turn up" Bum!

But a different nice man came to our rescue. We met him downstairs when we first arrived and he introduced himself as one of the guest artists. He had words with the management and they agreed that we could share his family's table. Result - and it was near the front!!! I think it helped that we had explained why we wanted to hear the band, who can resist a romantic wedding story...

And they were fab. In fact double fab. Just need to do a deal with them as they are currently over out budget but they have invited us to their next rehearsal session :-)

We went home on Wednesday with big smiles on our faces - the wedding was starting to come together.

And then it was soon Thursday and I was back in the new office where I started to get the place sorted and ended up with a big pile of things I wanted to throw away. Nothing better than a more to give you the kick to have a good clear out. But I was on the road by mid afternoon into town as I had been invited to be a VIP for the switching on of the xmas lights. Posh eh?!? One of the benefits of being the current president of the local chamber of commerce. So it was free sandwiches and soft drinks followed by screaming kids outside watching a dance group that had been in the finals of Britain's got a few bits of Talent, then the lights going on, fake snow everywhere, Slade music and fireworks. All sponsored by the local shopping centre and council. But it was cold so I was glad they had a big vat of hot water upstairs for teas and coffees after.

Home by about 7.30 to snuggle up on the sofa,  watch last night's Katie gets Bush Tuckered show and then the new one live at 9. Sheer bliss :-)

Love n hugs

VIP oooh sir can you still talk to us mere mortals lol. Glad the move went well, nothing more satisfying than being the gaffer is there, I hope when the phone lines do come on that you dont spend your time voting for celebs.

Both you and T have a great weekend.

I totally empathise with the whole delegation thing. Before C, I didn't stop. If anything needed doing, I would do it myself (always felt it to be a lot quicker that way)! So one of the hardest things I've had to learn is the art of delegation, but I have to because I am so tired all the time. It's really hard, and I still find myself 'supervising' sometimes, rather than sitting but it's a start lol!

    Enjoy your weekend.

Know what you mean about the brain being full, pity we can't plug a USB in and transfer all the data we don't really need but may be useful on to it to free up space lol. Glad you got to see the band hope you can sort out a good deal for your special day.

    Love and hugs Amanda x
