Hiya all. Apologies that I haven't blogged since the middle of last week but time has just wizzed by here and then I ended up with some sort of cold/flu bug - and being a man, it just sure did knock me out! Still suffering a bit so brain a bit slow still... ;-)
Now where was I?
Oh yes, I'd done my talk at the seminar in London on Wednesday night and finally got to bed at about 1am on Thursday morning. And Thursday was a mixture of much needed rest with a bit of work thrown in. It's on days like this one that I remember that I have only just had a six hour major operation where they told me I would have to take it easy for up to six months. Yeah, as if I was going to do that! :-)
But time flew quickly on Thursday and it was soon time for me to go and pick up my friend Roger and poodle off into town to meet the girls and then drive off to Farnham in Surrey. Why Farnham in Surrey on a Thursday evening? Well, my good mate Ben Waters was playing at the Maltings that night and a fun time was planned by all. Never Heard of Ben Waters? Well I've known him since he was 14, he's played with the best, been on Jools Holland's show in fact played at his wedding etc etc Go look him up on YouTube - boogie woogie piano player.
And we had a fab time. Catherine and Roger hadn't seen him before and they were transfixed. the rest of us swooned with pleasure. I love live music.
You guessed it, I was having another late night and it was about 1am again by the time I got home! Now of course I had planned a lazy Friday to get my needed rest... Well no, I had to be up at 5.30am and on the road by 6.15am for a trip up to Chester to make a presentation to a potential client.
The trip went well and was up there with time for a short nap in the car before heading off to the meeting. I think the presentation went well. it lasted about 90 minutes and then I was on my way down south again, another three and a half hours of driving...
Got home at 5 o'clock and had just over an hours rest before T and I left for our dancing lesson. Again it wasn't going to happen as we found one of our cats hiding upstairs with a swollen foot, twice the size it should be! A nightmare. We phoned the emergency vet and we were lucky that we had enough supplies to start him off on antibiotics that night. Any way, back to the dancing.
Before C we used to go ballroom and latin dancing every Friday and it was good to be back in the swing as they say. However, we were having special lessons this time to learn our wedding dance. Sorry, no details at the moment as we need to keep the routine secret from some of the people who read this blog. You will have to wait until the wedding to find out... :-)
So what do you think we did after dancing on Friday night. Wrong! We drove to Ikea at Wembly to pick up some furniture for the new photographic studio. We got there at 9pm and were out by 9.50, now that was good going! Home by 11pm and straight to bed.
Saturday was going to be as mad and busy as the last few days had been and it saw me leaving home at 6.15 in the morning to go to B&Q in Watford to pick up 16 packs of white vinyl tiles for the studio floor. These collected we drove off to the studio to meet the decorator and electrician who were finishing off the final things for us. We got them started and we then needed to rush off with the cat to the vets to get him treated properly.
That done we had lunch and then off again to the studio to lay the vinyl tiles. This was T's job, she loves it and she's very good at it. I just sat and admired!
The place looked great, we had managed to get the studio finished and furnished on time. I was need on Sunday!
But Saturday wasn't finished as we we off out to friends for dinner on Saturday night. Great friends, the sort you are just at home with, just a great time. The food was fab and the alcohol flowed well... ;-) We were staying the night so it flowed well into all of us!
Sunday morning came and I was a bit worse for wear. Too full from the food the night before to have a breakfast and I knew we had a busy morning ahead and we had to get home via the shops and buy a mirror for the studio - the one thing we'd forgotten at Ikea.
But I got strange looks from T as I hurried here along and left our friends house. getting in the car and driving off I realised I had made a big mistake. The clock in their kitchen hadn't been change since the clocks went back and although I thought it was 10.30 and we were squeezed for time it was only 9.30! Stupid me!
Well we did our required shopping and got home where I quickly snuggled down on the sofa for a rest and I certainly needed it! I slept for three hours but for some reason woke up shivering. And I mean really shivering. I felt cold and couldn't keep my body from shaking. Very strange, even thought it might be a low blood sugar problem but a quick test soon ruled that out. What was wrong with me? Was I just cold?
No time to worry about it as we soon needed be on our way back to the studio where we had a portrait session booked for a young lady. I was pleased with the way the studio looked and very pleased with the pictures taken.
As you can see, lots of toys to play with!
The shoot took about two hours and was the first of hopefully many sessions in there. As it was the customer's birthday we even had cake :-)
But I was still shivering when we got back home and by now all my joints were aching. Me thinks man flu had arrived and we all know how bad that can be. Or was it swine flu or avian flu or lesser spotted Daily Mail-itus which will cause house values to plummet...
So, lemsip was called upon to work it's magic and I dosed myself up enough to stay alive until Xfactor climaxed and I'm a Celebrity started. It was then off to bed with me feeling very sorry for myself. I don't like being poorly. It's not nice :-(
Monday morning and I felt just as bad so the lemsip continued as I hid under a blanket on the sofa. Fell asleep again mid afternoon for another three hours and woke up feeling like I'd been run over by a truck - hell, it was easier having a 6 hour operation, at least then i had lots and lots of painkillers and was as high as a kite for hours!
I did nothing for the rest of the day except cook tea for the two of us early evening so that we were ready for I'm a Celebrity and the arrival of That Woman. Oh, this is going to be fun! Me thinks she will be doing a lot of bush tucker trials!!
But I am feeling a bit better this morning, had a good sleep even though I woke up bathed in sweat my joints weren't aching as much. Fingers crossed...
Happy Tuesday everybody!
Andrew xx
