Hi all, it's an early morning blog from me today. Got lots to do, people to see and all that.
Well, I'm very happy to report that it has now sunk in that I got good news on Friday afternoon. :-) It was strange on Friday, I knew that I should be jumping for joy and I was to a certain extent but in reality I was a bit numb. I didn't sink in. Oh, I knew what I heard. The consultant said "it looks good, all clear". But I think that I was so prepared for bad news that my defensive shell just wouldn't come down.
Happy but strangely mute is how I described myself. Not me at all. Well we did go dancing on Friday night which was fab and great to see the old crew again as it must be close to 5 months since we had been to a class. And we weren't that bad even with the memory of how to do certain steps slowly crept their way back to the front of my brain.
After dancing we popped in to see some great friends who opened a bottle of champagne for us and after two glasses I just about started to feel a good change in my mood. It was beginning and I mean just beginning to feel real. Oh, I was giving and receiving all the hugs and handshakes (some boys just can't do the huggy bits!) but my heart wasn't yet elated from the news. And as we drove home, well as T drove home as she had only one small glass of champers, I tried to understand why I wasn't yet doing cartwheels.
Saturday was a day of fun as I had my first long session with my new camera. Took over 2,500 pictures between 10am and 2pm so let's hope that I'm starting to get to know all the new buttons and dials. I do love my new toy.
But I was knackered when we got home but I had had a wonderful day out, fresh air and the sun had shone all day.
Well I'd had a great couple of days. Did I tell you that we found me a wedding suit on Friday just before I went to see the consultant? We had popped into the local wedding centre to look at shoes when we spotted a suit in their sale. Perfect colour for me, great Italian cut and just the right size - so we bought it. So now you guess what we paid for my wonderful grooms wedding suit....
Go on guess....
No scolling down, I want you all to guess....
Well we paid...
£50
Wa hay!!!!!! Result :-)
A brilliant cheap wedding suit and good news from the consultant all we needed now was to win the Euromillions. Chance would be a fine thing!
So now we are sitting at home and getting ready to watch our weekly fix of trash TV which is the wonderful Xfactor when I get an email message pop up on my Blackberry. And the email said:
"Dear Andrew,
We have some exciting news about the ticket that you bought for the Friday 06 November draw. Please click on xxxx and enter your password..."
Now I do buy my lottery tickets on-line so they do email me if I've won anthing and I could see that it wasn't a spam or phishing email. So I checked and I had won the Euromillions!!!!!!
Now, don't get all suddenly very very friendly, It wasn't one of the £45m wins this weekend. I had won £8.50! But at least we have proved that luck does come in threes!!!
I was certainly getting happier by the hour and went to bed on Saturday night with a smile on my face.
Sunday was busy but fun again. Up quite early and over to see some friends and their little one. Great cups of tea and more playing with my new camera in their garden with small child and small scruffy doglette.
Back home and we finished off a wonderful comfort food hot veggie sausage casserole and a hunk of fresh bread before we went out again to T's mum's house to see how their litter of greyhound pups were doing. Pups! They were now massive and completely mad! And, boy, can't they run!
A further glass of wine to celebrate my good result on Friday and then home so that I could cook a Sunday roast. And even if I say it myself again, I do cook a good Sunday roast!
It was now 48 hours since I had been given the good news on Friday and I think it had now sunk in, well let's say about 90% sunk in, I still felt a little shell shocked over it all. So prepared for bad news I just didn't know how to cope with good news. How strange the mind works!
I wont comment on the Xfactor result but SC certainly knows how to keep his show on the front page of all the tabloids and he is good at it and he doesn't care what people think of him. It's all about the money!
The winter duvet was now on the bed so we soon felt as hot as toast and drifted off to sleep after a mammoth weekend of things happening.
And this morning I woke up (late for me at 8am) with a big smile on my face. It has now sunk in. I got the 3 months post op all clear. Now that is great news and I am truly very very very happy Mr A this morning.
I will go out today and kick them there leaves and jump in a puddle. Life expectancy has now moved to the right and I'm gonna make the most of it!
;-)
