I know, I am just a pale smudge in life with blog number 57 compared to Deb's number 200. Way to go girl! I aspire to blog number 200 :-)
Ok, let's catch up... My last blog took us up to Friday night with the Halloween Quiz where we certainly didn't repeat our winning ways of the last but one quiz night in the local village hall but it had ben an evening of fun and laughter - certainly what the doctor ordered.
Going out on the Friday night seems to make the weekend last longer as Saturday morning felt like a Sunday morning. Now what did we do on Saturday? A lazy start and then a trip to the shops after a brief lunch at the local "Village Centre". Great value "Nan food" as we call it in a place that is run by volunteers. I do love our little village :-)
Can't remember what we went shopping for except that I know that we bought some tissue paper, red ribbon and a photo frame. I also know that we forgot to buy a chicken for the Sunday roast so that was added to the next day's to do list!
When we got home we had just enough time to print out a picture to stick into the photo frame and get ready to go over to friends house for the evening where we were cooking for them. L and J have been fab mates since C arrived and they were having some worky type problems themselves so we were going over to have fun and supply hugs. It feels good to give back after being the centre of our family and friends thoughts for so many months now.
And we did have fun and the food was fab (thank you T)
But we didn't stay late as we needed to be up in the morning to go on a quick photoshoot to get a picture of the new vicar for a parish magazine. Luckily the weather held off and we were able to take the pics outdoors with the beautiful autumn colours rather than having to take them indoors.
We came back home via a local Waitrose (see we be dead posh here :-) ) to pick up a chicken for the Sunday roast. The afternoon was spent doing a lot of nothing and then about 4.30 we had to go and pick up the keys to my new office and studio. And it's only a 5 min walk from home! We did a little jig when we opened the door to the newly cleaned and scrubbed space. This is going to be much easier than the 20 mile journey I had to do before. I would say that we skipped back home but we had taken the car as we needed deliver the studio lights and get them wired up. Next to do is to arrange the phone lines and get a removal company to pack up the old office and come and make it all appear again in the new location. It is all about being positive about the future and I am positive. Je suis going to beat the odds, lock stock and barrel, onwards and upwards, forever and ever, til the ends of time, until I reach the age of 100.
Now, come to think about it, I met a chap in the village post office last week who was 103 and he looked mighty good and full of fun and charm, perhaps I should aim higher than 100?
And so we got back home and I made the Sunday roast which hit the spot. A good one, everything just puuuuurfect! :-) And then rice pudding for afters - what more can a man want? Ok Mike, there is always Nutella...
But Monday was to be the start of a difficult week. The morning was ok and I took a quick trip out to a meeting before I had to be home to start drinking the awful contrast medium for the CT scan later. Yuck, the first 300ml at 12 reminded me why I didn't like the stuff. The second 300ml at 2 was worse. Yuck, yuck, yuck and yuck. And, and, and I was having to starve myself all afternoon and we all know that being in "fasting" mode just makes you hungry with everything reminding you that you can't eat. Pooh, pooh, pooh, pooh, pooh!
One of our bestest friends came over to take me to the hospital in time to get a blood test before the scan that was to be done at 4.40pm. All went well, no traffic, easy parking at the hospital, blood lady was great fun and good at her job (thank you Lyn) and we were on time sitting down in the CT waiting area.
Now, it is called a waiting area because you have to wait there. We all know that. But.... these nasty people who had been rushed into A&E and then needed emergency CT and MRI scans just jumped the queue! How dare they, just because they are really poorly and their docs need urgent results... :-)
Oh well, can't really complain :-)
We were about an hour late in doing the scan and they had to top up my contrast medium with another drink and then syringe this strange stuff into my veins that heats you up from the inside out. No matter how many time I have it, it still feels very weird, very strange, bit like how a ready meal must feel in a microwave.
10 minutes later we were leaving and on our way back home for a wonderful "leftovers" tea of cold chicken and bubble & squeak. Now that gets rid of the awful taste in your mouth for sure!
As usual for me I had been nervous about the CT scan and I now need to wait until Friday to get the results. I do hate the waiting part. Nothing I can do so just need to get out there and enjoy life. Well, that's the plan :-)
Love and hugs to you all out there in Macmillanland
