Friday night we are out with our friends Catherine and Roger for a lovely meal. And we are taking advantage of a special offer at a local Italian of a starter, main course and a drink (wine, beer or soft drink) for only £10. Now that, my friends, is a bargain round here for what is a great restaurant! And because we are celebrating (not sure what but it seemed a good excuse) we just had to have those extra beers and bottle of wine. ;-)
And as it was totally unfair on T to be the designated driver (again!!) we decided to both have a drink and get a cab back home afterwards. It was a great evening and all had fun!
So we had a slightly lazy Saturday morning before T's Dad and other half came over so that we could go out again. And yes, it was back for a lunch at the Italian again for their special offer. Now the plan was to have them take us there then we were going to pick up the car we left there the night before. But oh dear... We just had to get the next bottle of wine to make it a great relaxed and fun lunchtime food and booze session. And you've guessed it. We ended up leaving the car in town yet again due to both of us partaking in the heavenly grape juice.
As you can imagine we ere good for nothing when we got home on Saturday afternoon. In fact we only had time for a couple of hours rest before we were due to go out again! This time it was to our friends James & Laura for a night in at their place. Luckily for us we planned to stay the night so we could just open that next bottle of wine without any guilt feeling at all. :-)
Now this was an important and special night as it was the first night I'd stayed away from home since the operation. The first night that I travelled with a full stoma bag kit with night bag equipment. I wasn't too worried about it but I have to admit to being a tad nervous in case of an accident. Wetting the bed at a friends house might be just a bit too much for our friendship? Now, I did know that it would never be a problem for these friends. As Laura said when I mentioned my worries. "Don't be stupid, we have William here and he's just 18 months old and we deal with his nappies and things every day. A wet patch on the spare bed from you would just make me feel like you are really part of our family!" Now that IS a friend!
But I was a good boy and didn't wet the bed that night! And they even brought us a cup of tea in bed then made us breakfast. It was simply great. We are so lucky to have such good friends.
And so to home by about lunchtime on Sunday and I needed a rest so we ended up watching TV all afternoon and evening, split into chunks either side of visits from Sue (T's mum) and Kim (T's cousin) and we even caught up with the XFactor!
Sadly, T's car is still sitting in Thame, me thinks we will have to leave it there until Monday evening!!!
Oh, and as you might have guessed, we never got round to designing the invitations - must do that early this week, tempus fugit ;-)
Andrew xx
