Thoughts from the frontline - 41

1 minute read time.

Wednesday came early this week. Well, it felt like it did!

I'm not sure where this week has gone but it feels like it was only the weekend yesterday. Slow down world, that's an order. I don't want life to go so quick, I want to savour every day and make sure that I make the most of it.

But does that happen? Well, not really does it? Days come and days go and even for us with possible shortened prognosis it is still easy to get to the end of a day and wonder "now, what did I actually do today?". And all you did was just "do life" as does anyone. And you know what? there is nothing wrong with that.

I quite like getting to the end of the day and thinking, now that wasn't a special special day, just an ordinary one doing ordinary things. There are a few in my family/friends circle that seem to think that I now need to make every day a special one. Well, I don't! :-)

We did go for a walk on Wednesday to look at some possible new offices for me. I have decided that I need to move the office from where it is now (about 20 miles away) to one somewhere in the village or close by. Quite simply because I can't be arsed to drive all that way every day! I like the idea of just walking to the office in the morning and it will certainly make the process of getting back to work part time and then full time much easier.

And there could be good news - the space we looked at yesterday is possibly just right to squeeze in a small photographic studio! Let's hope I can do a deal with the landlord...

Now you folks out there in Macmillan land, I have started to seriously consider writing that book some of you keep suggesting. Should I do it? Should it just be about me and my cancer or do some of you want a staring role? Suggestions will help me to decide and ideas for a title will certainly be well received!!

So, repeat after me... "I am not a victim" and "I like jelly"

Keep smiling...

Hi Andrew,  Yes, you definitely SHOULD write a book.  Your Thoughts from the frontline are so Entertaining, but also show how well you have coped with all you are going through - which would be so helpful to others.  I have a friend who has the same cancer as you and I suggested to her that she came and read your Blog and she finds it really helpful.

No suggestions for a title, sorry, but have you any advice on how to stop ones life being divided into sections - mine is three monthly at the moment.  Just after an appointment I am hopefully over the moon for two months, then spend the next month worrying about the next appointment.  I have an appointment tomorrow at the Marsden in Sutton so am a nervous wreak and imagining all sorts and checking for lumps and bumps everywhere (got a lump on the site of the first op which I am convinced is getting bigger!) God I HATE melanoma.

Anyway, take care and get that book written

Go for it Andrew. It will certainly help anyone going through the 'cancer journey'. As Gill has said, your blogs are entertaining and humorous but they also show your human side where you are worried, nervous and sometimes feel down. With regards to a title, what's wrong with Thoughts from the Frontline because that's where we are fighting this disease, on the frontline. Hope you do go ahead and write the book, then I can say to everyone 'I know that man, I'm part of his team you know'!!

I am not a victim and yes, I do like jelly (preferably with a spoon though).

    Take care

You most certainly should Andrew.  And I agree with your philosophy - I want to enjoy every day - but may mean sitting with a book and a cuppa - doing nothing.  Days don't have to be special, they just have to be enjoyable.

    Good luck with the office.

    Love Carol xx

Yes to the book, if you enjoy writing the blogs the whole book can be in the same format.....they are but short chapters anyway.

I am all for self-promotion and I know I am not alone in saying that we would jump for joy to see our "names in print" somewhere along the line.  All in the best possible taste of course ;)

I am not a victim NOR a statistic and I like Jelly - especially orange with mandarin segments in it just like my Nan used to make :D

The office sounds fab, whatever I can cross is crossed for you, but.......could you fit all of us in the for the book cover shot I wonder LOL
