Thoughts from the frontline - 33 - Special Results Edition

1 minute read time.
Well, we're back from the hospital and the news is not too bad! Now we were late going into see the consultant as they had forgotten to get my notes out! Anyway, I can forgive them as my appointment had been brought forward from about 5pm back to 2pm right at the beginning of afternoon clinic. T was getting more nervous and frustrated by the minute. So we had, in the end, to wait nearly an hour for "the call". A quick talk about stoma care and stents and we got onto the results part. Lymph nodes clear. Yeah!! Cancer was T4, was very aggressive and had spread from the bladder into the prostate. Bum. Kidney functions were now back to normal. Yeah!! They had had discussions with the oncology team about whether to try some chemo at this stage but had decided that as usefulness was unknown for my rare cancer that they would recommend "wait and see" rather than risk the side effects. So, new appointment in 3 months with a CT scan, blood tests etc. Perfect, just before Christmas! T then asked her questions. Not as many this time but all were answered with care and clarity. And as we walked out I reminded myself what the overall picture was. Currently I am cancer free (Yippie!!!) but there is a possibility that it might come back. Next two to three years are the most risky but let's get through the next three months first! Every day is a bonus to what it could have been. Looks like I'm going to have to bore all of you on here for some time to come! ;-) Andrew xxx (and thanks for all your support)
