What to expect?

1 minute read time.
My mother is in her mid 60's and has always kept up to date on her yearly visits and mammograms. In 2007 she was called back to the office to remove a calcium deposit no bigger then the head of a pin but the lab reports came back negative and everything was fine. About two weeks ago she went in for another routine exam and the doctor found three little deposits no bigger then a pin again, when the results came back this time she had some bad news. The doctor told her that they were "cancer like" but they got them out. The reason that I have come to this website is to look for some answers from anyone who has had a similar experience and what should me and my brothers expect the news to be as far as treatment. I am hoping that someone in this community can help. She has a doctors appointment this week to let her know what treatment she is going to get and they have also told her that she is going to need to go to more appointments then usual for the next five years to make sure that this doesn't come back. Thank you in advance for anyone who has some reassurance and answers to my question.

Sorry to hear about Mum - I haven't had experience of this myself, I had a mastectomy in Oct.  It might be worth either PM ing or phoning the MacMillan helpline and talking to one of the nurses 0800 808 2020.  Or you can e-mail just click on the link to the right "ask a nurse"

Hope you get the info you need, let us know how Mum gets on.
