Its been a fair while since i wrote one of these, so figured i should probably update you all on the antics at this end. Im not on here as much just now with tempramental laptop charger and useless phone so thought id take this chance to update anyone whos missed random status updates while things are *touch wood* working!! lol
Hmm...so where to begin, lets cover the pause first.
Well after neuropathy and my first cold in 6 months (that alone is an achievement for me!!!) and trailing EVERY WEEK to the hospital just to be told 'come back again next week' ive now been given a bit of a break - just in time for my birthday! *woohoo* So instead of being sick and cold and suffering chemo side effects on my 29th, i will now be picc line free and recovering from a wee trip to London thanks to the Willow Foundation ( will fill you in on that in a little bit - trying not to get side tracked as per! )
So i get 4wks off and have the joys of a CT scan to look fwd to when i go back. Pain is back, so lack of chemo does worry me a little so its more reassuring to know they will be studying pictures of my insides again - doesnt mean im not gonna be a little ball of stress and haaaaaaate every moment til its over mind you. They tell me 9 sessions of FOLFOX is a fair amount of treatment and CEA and previous CT scan results all show that my body has responded really well and probably really just needs this rest. Im not looking forward to the scan, as last time it showed a new mutating cell in my breast and a DVT in my leg, put together with my hatred of getting needles and injections its not the most fun experience in my life!
Is your bladder full to bursting Miss Isis? *nods*
Ah good, we shall just inject you with stuff to make you feel like you have just wet yourself and make you hold your breath for the longest 30seconds of your life making the need to pee all that more fun *ah goodie*
Tingles are still here and getting worse. Feet are now a million times worse than my hands. Feel like ive done a 12-15hr shift standing on my feet before im even outta bed. So trundle back to the hospital in my 4wk break to see if the people doing research on neuropathy can give me stuff to ease it, however im on some of the strongest painkillers around so i was warned they might not, but go have a chat anyway. (so much for my 4wks away from my home from home lol)
Ive also reached the 2month stage from DVT discovery so my injections got dropped to the lower ones, since then the leg cramps n shooting pains like i got in the beginning are back. Between the feet n the legs its a wonder i still get up most days, hobbling around like quasimodo after such newly found independence aint half frustrating. Plus point is the bleeding gums and stuff have settled down. Part of me wishes the thing has been blasted to oblivion already and this CT scan will show that its gone and i dont have to get stabbed with pointy sticks til jan, however, dont think im THAT much of a superhero lol!
Sooooo... to the good stuff!
Im 29 in 8 days, and with this little chemo pause and thanks to tickets not being sold out, i got my trip to London to see Phantom squeezed in the week of my birthday! I cant thank the Willow Foundation enough for giving me something to look forward to and making this years birthday more fun than it was gonna be post diagnosis mid treatment. *eeeeeeeeshk* Soooooooo excited. Me and Thundercat dash off to London on Wednesday, see the show on the Thursday and are back to not so sunny Scotland on the Friday. I have so much i wanna squeeze in i reckon i need more than one trip haha! Gonna go treat myself to some Doc Martins(my birthday present to myself), visit my sassy sister(whos bday it is that week too) and take a wander round Camden as well as do the sophisticated dinner and theatre outing. I have everything crossed my feet and legs let me!!!! Thundercat says he will just need to carry me, but i think he forgets ive put the 4stone back on and i aint as light as a feather anymore lol! A well, a break from here makes the pause seem more real and can pretend im normal again for a little while which is always fun. Then theres always the Slash gig to look forward to aswell, which will round off my pause from treatment as my scan will be done within the days after it. Might aswell go out in style eh?!
Oooh and ive raised just over £300 for my firewalk in november! Reeeeeeeeeally hope the sore feet have gone by then or i might have to give it all back hahaha!
Anyhew, this insomniac is away to take her painkillers and attempt this sleeping thing now shes caught up with macland.
Sending huge hugs as always! xxxx
