Just to say a very happy christmas and new year to everyone on here, its been a fantastic year in so far that so many of us have met up and become good friends, we have all suffered ups and downs and know that on here we can gain support and love, i think that makes us all very special on here. so like most of us,i probabley won't get on here much over the next few weeks, so i raise my glass of plenty to you all and wish you all health and happiness for the coming new year.

It's exactly a year ago that the doctor told us to 'expect the worst', and. since my mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer some time ago and died within a year, I did. I was reduced to a snivelling wreck., and poor Markus had to deal with me as well as himself. But I found What Now, we made contact with all the wonderful people on here, of whom, you, Alison, were one of the first. Advice and support followed, a lot of laughter, the feeling of being a part of a community and not alone - we even met lots of you at the Leicester Fiesta. Now I know more people in GB than I have done over the last 30 years, Markus's English is improving dramatically......... and HE'S STILL HERE, going strong.
It has been an awful year, a wonderful year. Thank you all for sharing it with us. We wish you all a happy Christmas. And a hopeful, healthy New Year.

I have such mixed feelings about 2008 - being really poorly for 4 months, then a big operation, a diagnosis of cancer, chemotherapy and 8 months off work . . . But this has been more than compensated by all the new friends I've made, and the very special times we've shared, both online and in person in Leicester and the cosy cottage retreat. Thank you all so much for your love and support - I couldn't have got through it without you.
I shall be raising my glass to the hope that 2009 is a better year for us all.
