THANK GOD FOR MAC NURSES

1 minute read time.

Went for talk with my nurse today Amanda she ie great you all know been having few prbs mentley that is .told her about the chat and how so many folk dependid on it she said it would come back has it .Any way apart from that i managed to ask the questions that i could not ask efore chat.you dont know how much confidence it has given me thats why need it back. As i never had any symptoms off the c i wanted to know how i could tell if it was coming back i now know the big one though is will i really beat this this answer not so good ,I had thought that after five years in remission i was cured not so been reading what was said wrong or more like not acepting what they told me in my head. What they mean is they try to keep me in remission for five years but that IT can come back any time before or after and if it does then my chance of a lot   longer life is limited the five year mark means if comes back just better chance of long term remission.IT never really goes away.does that make sence. Some off you will know i lost afriend recently my mac nurse also told me how she died and why.she had a relapse and then caught an infection which did not respond to treatment she went very peacfully at the end so i am thankfull for that .If i have to go then thats how i want to go Oh1 has any one out ther had an email from a miss long about a dissertation she is doing on AML SHE NEEDS aml PATIENTS TO HELP HER .she wants to interview them about  thier experiances ive signed up if any one else wants to reply to email if not got it let me know and will send it you

    Golly Alan!

You have just said exactly what's going on in my head.  I too have decided I need to talk to a Mac Nurse.  I phoned my surgery to ask to be referred and within two hours I got a call from the mac nurse and she has made arrangements to come and visit me, what service.  I have lots I want to talk about that I don't  want to worry family with.

I lost a friend too back in March, which has been hard, she also caught a catastrophic infection, just so unfair.

Just like to say thank you for putting up this post, I don't feel quite so mad now!

So glad to hear some people are getting help from Mac nurses. Here in Staffordshire, cancer support is hospice led, and not at all the same level as you are able to access.  A referral by our GP for contact for general information about home nursing was followed up by a hospice nurse thee weeks later.  My husband was in hospital overnight for chemo, so luckily I was able to put her off, after being told that she needed to visit as he had some decisions to make.  When I questioned her as to what decisions, she said, "oh, how we can help him die"  It seems the hospice we have regularly supported over the years is hihly unlikely to give him a place as we live in a "nice house with an ensuite bathroom."  Those of you with access to Mac nurses are so fortunate.
