Alost friend

1 minute read time.

I recieved news today that a young woman who was in hospital with me passed away on the 30th september. Igot to know her through her husband he is the son of a woman whose house we used to peg off in . thats beside the point Carrol had the same as me AMLand the same treatment unlike me she wasdown for stem cell transplant , i had a fourth lot of chemo on account of age and no donors. At the time they then decided she would be ok if she just had another dose of chemo and after she went home in remission all was fine or so they thought.

Somthing must have happened and she had to go back in and was due a stem cell transplant in four weeks had had the chemo to get the body ready for it .Trouble is its that agressive it kills all the imune system off .Carrol got a bad infection and though they did all they could for her it was not enough .Iknew Carrol as a fighter and i am sure she fought all the way to the end .It has started me thinking about my own mortality again like i said we had the same AML and same treatment even same cancer team .If things go bad for me just hope ihave the courage to face it like she did Where ever you are Carrol rest in piece love xxx

Hi Alan, you will find the strength and courage to face whatever the future holds.  It would be interesting to know how long was she in remission?

If you are still in remission next week that is a goal, it's most definately difficult knowing someone and then seeing them also lose the battle.  It may be due to a combination of reasons, like low imune sytem verses high infection, severe drop in red blood cells and platelet counts, the activity of AML.  Life is too short to be using all your energy worrying about what could be because it may also not be.  You enjoy yourself and don't be so hard on yourself.

I will be thinking of you going through this difficult time.   xxxxx
