Has been a busy week treatment wise. On Monday I had weekly blood tests have been having for past month since started Abemaciclib. White bllod cells are lower than last week, as are platelets. Had physiotheraphy on Monday evening for adhesions problem. I went to the hospital on Tuesday morning for 5 pain relief injections directly into my scar and armpit. I don't normally feel anything but this time two injections really hurt. The doctor felt bad and said "Sorry, sweetie, nearly done." He's always very kind and thinks the pain will eventually subside but it'll mean rewiring my brain. He said my brain is so used to the pain, even 11 months post surgery, that it's continuously sending pain messages even though, he says, the adhesions are improving and pain should therefore be less. Had my onthly injection of Decapeptyl on Tuesday (this forces you into menopause.) Despite being 51 when I was diagnosed I had periods every 28 days. As a teenager I had very irregular periods (due to hormone imbalances) and had to take the pill to ensure monthly periods.............the irony of having an injection now to stop them!
Wednesday was a no hospital day. Scar are was a bit sore after pain relief injection but felt much looser than before. This lack of tightness lasted until Wednesday evening when felt tight and heavy again. More physiotheraphy onThursday evening for adhesions problem. Not sure if it's working but will do a few more sessions until deciding whether to continue or not. Met a friend for lunch on Friday, went for a walk with another friend after work and another friend popped over after dinner. Friday was a good day. Laughing and joking with girlfriends was fun as well as being a distraction from the adhesions pain.
Went for a lymph drainage massage this morning. Thankfully I do not have lymphedema but it was recommended as a safe massage to have for cancer patients. The therapist massages the whole body with gentle movements and it's a relaxing 60 minutes where I manage to empty my mind and just be in the moment.
I have had diarrea since Tuesday. I haven't followed as well as I was my new diet since taking Abemaciclib. I need to get back to following it to the letter as I was for the first 2 weeks.
Next week is the same treatment wise except no Decapeptyl injection as that's monthly.
