Maryjane I know treatment is different is USA is different from here also a lot depends on how far advanced his AML is also if he has Myelosysplasia too. I recently lost Bert in Feb after an 18 month fight but he had Myelodysplasia too.

How old is your dad and does he live in the USA also

My great friend in Florida has recently been diagnosed with Myelodysplasia and is waiting for the bone marrow test results.  Sadly, her brother died from this quite a few years ago and that is still fresh in her mind. She won't talk about it with her husband who is really suffering, but that 's her way of coping. I live in England and won't be over in the USA again until November so I feel so far away when I should be there to help.  Any advice?

My sister who is 53 was told she had myelodysplasia in july this is now said to be AML which we think is MDS RAEB-T i'm finding all this very confusing. She needs a bonemarrow transplant and 3 matches have been found, myself and 2 other sisters were not a match, which makes me feel i have let her down. She is not sure about having a transplant and i can understand it must be very frightening and have told her whatever she decides i will support her. I feel so useless i just want to be there for her as much as possible. Any advice on this horrible illness please.
