Jotting down (2)

2 minute read time.

Life is so unpredictable, i think our attitude towards this will make the different.

I think no one ever imagin one day they would searching in this site for information and support. I never think i will end up in England, having my own family here. Thousands miles from where i grown up, having my first job, my first love and a world i have try to build. Sometime even with my husabnd beside me, or standing in my garden, i still feel it is so unreal. Never in a million years i could guessed my life would like this when i reach my middle age. But i am here, this is me.

My mother was never a healthy, strong person. She always have some health issues but never seems so serious that took our breath away. The most near death experience to her was when she had severe acute pancreatitis infection. The cause of that is because she starting to feel quite painful, so my dad called ambulance to pick her up. But more than an hours passed,  still waitting, near two, and ambulance still on the way. Dad decide that no more waiting and grab the texi took her to the hospital by himself. Doctor said, little longer, will be pretty bad news to deal with. I think they learned big lesson from that never call ambulance again. Beijing is captial of China, but medical resources not always up to the front for service. In small cities, the situation even worse. No one will see how bad the problem can be until one's own life being affected. But the strange thing is, my parents just find their way to cope. To me, this is so sad, but to them, they just dont want this little things ruined their life. As my mother said, she was ok in the end, she still alive, that is big win. Always look at the bright side....... ummm..... They are not happy with it too, but they are not in a enviroment that can afford to argue or challenge. That is why they are so happy i have what they cant. Althougt i live here for so many years now, lucky us we have been healthy and hardly using NHS services. I went had a research, apparently, here in England, the ambulance need to arrive the place within 15-20 minutes. How wonderful this is !

I already speak fluent English and working for the expatriates in Beijing before i came here. I also studied and gained my degrees to better meself since i came. English is always an subject of my learning. But I could never foresee that I will learning new words through this way. I never think i will searching websites and dictionary oneday try to understanding the meaning of these words that one day will won over my mother. I am always a curious perosn, but this time, learning new things is not fun, not at all.

    Hi Marian,

I read your blog with great interest.  Am I right in understanding that you live in the UK, with your own family and that your mum and dad are living in China?

I am so glad that you have found this MacMillan website and I hope that you also find the information and help you need for yourself and your mum's cancer.

To me, China is the source of much traditional thinking and practice in medicine.  What we here call alternative therapies such as acupunture.  Has your mum found any of these helpful to her and they can be used in addition to conventional, scientific medicine.

While I am using Chinese bone breathing and visualisations for my cancer I wonder how your mum is trying to help herself and improve her disease?  I will continue to read your blog so there is no need to answer this reply.  My best wishes to your mum, yourself and your family.
