You know that box of vinyl records you donated to the charity shop, or sold at the boot fair for a few quid? Well I'm going to tell you a story this morning as it relates to the title of this blog. Brand New Me. The Jerry Butler song.
OK. Think about all the boxes of records you have chucked out over the years. The ones of all the artists that you had never heard of? Was it by any chance Keep On Pushin by The Impressions? It came out in 1964. There's 5 copies for sale on Amazon. Prices range from £51.76 to £86.56. For the second hand CD. But we're talking Vinyl here. And do you remember the condition it was in?
If you are that person rushing frantically to search on the internet for the price of a vinyl copy please carry on. Let me know if you find one. Can't find one? No neither can I. Or anyone else I spoke to. Mmmm.
So if I had spotted the bargain first what would I be selling it for? Well I wouldn't be selling it. I would storing it while the fun goes on. Give the dealers in Japan and Russia a few days to get involved.
Ok so you didn't have that. What about the Jerry Butler one? "Ice on Ice". Did you chuck that out too? Shame. It's only my opinion but I think it's more valuable.
Today I am listening a digital copy of a song called "I Made A Mistake". It's track 12. And I'm not telling you from which album.
This song is for me. Because I had a lie in. And missed a bargain.
