A time consuming project

1 minute read time.

Well I'm back a little later than planned.  I have been off on an unexpected long musical journey of discovery!

I got into conversation with someone who calls themselves a true music fan.  They unfortunately were also aware of my few moments of madness in the mid 70s when I became a Bay City Rollers Fan.  We got onto the subject of what happened to the lads in the band, and if any of them ever had any musical ability.  I argued that David Paton and Billy Lyall were talented, they moved on to the group Pilot where they had several hits including "Magic" and "January".

I then went on to say that I thought David Paton had ended up with a group called the Alan Parsons Project, along with some of my other favourite singers from that era - Colin Blunstone and John Miles.  I named  the only two singles I knew by that band - "Eye In The Sky" and "Old And Wise".  There was then stunned silence.

You see it turned out that not only had the "True Music Fan" heard of The Alan Parsons Project, but they were also a big fan!  An exchange of music was suggested.  I kindly offered the entire works of The Bay City Rollers and my one Pilot album.  Only the Pilot album was taken and was soon returned with the comments "OK, but I wouldn't listen to it again".

Whereas I eagerly borrowed the 14 Alan Parsons Project CDs which were offered, and I have been working my way through them in chronological order.  Some I like, some I don't.  But I'm enjoying discovering new music which is what I set out to do.
