A sad farewell to my local vinyl store

Less than one minute read time.

My local vinyl record store finally closed down this week.  I am not at all surprised.  The lease was up for renewal, and these days it is more profitable to deal in vinyl on the internet.  But it has left me feeling very sad, it definitely feels like the end of an era.  I will miss going in there having lovely chats with the owner and the other customers.  I used to enjoy browsing through all the stock, I could happily spend hours in there.  But that was the problem, there were many regulars but we never spent much money.

So good luck to the owner with your new internet venture.  I'm sure you will do well and it will be nice for you to have time at home with your wife and children.  Unfortunately I suspect I will be seeing more of you locally now that you will have some free time to join me and the rest of your customers in their quest to find vinyl bargains in the local charity shops and boot fairs!
