Progression again

Less than one minute read time.

The results are in from my PET-CT scan and I do have further progression. The first metastasis to my liver, the one I had ablated in December, has grown back to fill all of the space left by the ablation. So it’s about twice the size it was in December. The second metastasis in my liver is new, and is about the size the first one was last Autumn. So systemic treatment is the recommendation.

Both the original breast tumour and the first secondary passed the entrance exam for the immunotherapy drug Pembrolizumab, so the oncologist has submitted a case to put me on that. Other than the NICE authorisation requiring it to be given with Paclitaxel or NAB-Paclitaxel, she was a bit unclear on the treatment protocol. It looks like I am the hospital’s first TNBC patient to go on it. I had a battery of blood tests to check out endocrine and liver function. I am going to escape on holiday for a week and then return to treatment. No great surprise but it’s disappointing it has all happened so quickly.
