Sunday 5th October
3 days of antibiotics and no change to the lump in my arm.
Still eating ok, albeit smaller portions than what I used to have before 2025, but getting slightly bigger each week.
Still only taking paracetamol first thing in the mornings… might stop these this week.
Monday 6th October
Today I had my bloods taken for the testing due to the lump in my arm.
Tuesday 7th October
Last day of the antibiotics, nothing has changed with regards the lump in my arm so far.
The dietician rang today to check up on me and suggested that as I eat more then to reduce the fortisip drinks, which I confirmed that I was already down to between 4 to 6 a day.
She will catch up with me at my next appointment which is on the 27th October.
Received a letter from the Hospital today informing me that I have an MRI scan booked in for the 29th November at 11:15.
Wednesday 8th October
As nothing has changed with regards the lump in my arm, I arrange an appointment to see a GP, again through the app and again get a phone call to confirm an appointment at 11:00hrs today.
Saw a different doctor than before, he looked at the lump and confirm it’s a blood clot !!!!!
But not to worry it won’t go anywhere, its not a deep vein. It may reduce in size over time but it will always be there. Its very common when you have various cannulas over a period of time in one location.
His final comment as I was leaving was “You will die with it, not because of it”. Now there’s a comforting thought !
Thursday 9th October
My blood results are on my NHS app, I probably need to go through these with a professional so I understand what they mean, just in case!
But nothing that rang loud alarm bells or at least I assume they would have spoken to me if there had been.
Friday 10th October
Stopped taking the paracetamol altogether, so now nothing through the PEG and no medication being taken at all.
What Have I learnt?
Some blood clots can be ok.. apparently.
Bread is still difficult to eat, I seem to chew it for a long while but it doesn’t help in swallowing it and it tends to stick to my teeth.
