Can I see my own scans by email?

Less than one minute read time.
My 1st lung doctor let me glimpse at my x-ray to see my tumour (interesting pic of myself) During my bronc if I turned my head and strained my eye’s up I could glimpsed the camera pictures (interesting) The surgeon let me see my pet scan (a good pic of the enemy) And a glimpse of the after surgery x-ray (told picture perfect) I would like to have them on my pc to look at and ponder (is that strange?)

At the old hospitals on the grounds that they "don't have the facilities in here" ie no screen in the consulting rooms, and at the new hospitals they said that as it is now a matter of mets into my lymph nodes it is very hard to distinguish, even for experts - but at least they gave me a copy of the actual print-out of what the specialist radiologist had written.

I too would have liked to have looked my cancer in the face.  I asked to see at the very first appointment, and if I HAD been allowed to see, the mis-diagnosis would have been discovered there and then!

On tv, if it's Dr Alice Roberts who's looking over their shoulder, you always see the doctor sharing this visual information to explain exactly what has been found.  This gives the impression that this is normal practice.  Is it?  How many of us actually HAVE been shown our scans if requested?  The ones I know about are all young people, and I wondered if they do this as a special measure to make them feel 'included'.

I think it would be really good to see exactly what we are each fighting - if we wanted to.  How come my old team were so eager to impart (incorrect) info such as stage and the number of months I had left to live - but wouldn't share the evidence?

Good luck and let us know the outcome!  xxxx Penny

Good statement for them to hide behind, interpretation of pet or ct is done by one so called expert but are they? And how long do they spend looking?  I like you would become my own expert on my own case. It's not what you know but what you can learn that matters so long as you double check with an expert of your choice IE one with plenty of experience.
