Have been told that I have prostate cancer my gleason 3+4=7. Al this was done over the phone by a nurse. Was told I need surgery or radiation therapy. Is there anyone on here who has gone through the same thing? And if so who did you talk to?
Bas,
You would think it was available throughout the whole UK. Ask at your Doctor's to see if they recommend anything. I also use another app called "My GP". This one was advertised in the Doctor's surgery. Both Airmid and MyGP do the same thing, but I like to use both to see which one has what.
I'm sure I had to sign a document from the Doctor's to say that I wanted access to my medical records.
Have a look in your local Pharmacies, they often advertise different apps.

You must have had a biopsy so at what hospital and under the directions of which consultant did you get this. Contact that consultan'ts secretary and ask how things proceed. Was the nurse a nurse from your surgery or was she your designated key worker from the hospital? If so contact that nurse. If you can't manage to do either of these things then contact your GP for advice - I know these things are difficult at this time.
Have you had an MRI scan? What tests have you had and what are the results you know? What is your staging and PSA? You should be able to consult with both a surgeon and a Consultant radiologist so that you can make up your mind which treatment suits you. Have a look online at the Prostate Cancer UK pamphlets in the Prostate Cancer toolkit - which deals with all that should happen at the time of diagnosis this should help. If you have questions come here with them or ring the specialist Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses on 0800 074 8383 calls are free and the lines are open from Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri 9am to 6pm and on Wednesdays from 10am to 8pm.
Gleason 7 (3+4) is the same as mine when I was diagnosed 6 years ago with a PSA of 13 Staging T1N0M0 though at the MRI Scan it was seen that the tumour was pushing out of the back of the prostate into the rectum meant that T2 disease could not be ruled out so the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) decided that an operation to remove the prostate would not be suitable as microscopic cancer cells could have already escaped into the surroundimg area and could cause spread and Hormone Therapy (HT) followed by Radiotherapy (RT) would do the best job - which it did and 6 years later here I am still with an undetectable PSA. To all intents and purposes "cured" as my urologist stated at the outset.
