I am about to start 6 weeks radiotherapy and chemo for my tongue scc hpv+ cancer. The oncologist painted a really bad picture of the side effects of radiotherapy and said I need a PEG fitted before I start as I won't be able to swallow or eat or anything. He has really got me worried. Can anyone tell me how bad it really is please, I am all over the place. I have an overactive gag reflex apparently, and I should expect hell on earth from what he said. What have others experienced? I am really worried about this treatment now. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the tips Hazel. Yes, I will have my kindle for sure.. earphones.. charger leads and probably some whey shakes as the lady who called me to run through things yesterday said the food is normally sandwiches etc, which I can't eat given I am already on soft foods.. I suppose I can always have a little snooze to help time go by lol .
Hi yes forgot about sandwiches! I had to send hubby to mark s and Spencer for me ge brought back prawns ! Which be careful as shellfish fish soft un pasteurised cheeses I was told to avoid during chemo. So he had to go back oops. Kept him busy.

The insides are nice and soft I struggled with pastry but extra calories are worth it. I found local bakers better than supermarkets. Home made better but to get honest I couldn’t be bothered had other stuff on my mind. Lol xx
