Hello Community
Been quite a dramatic 2024 for me so far. Went to the doctors with a bad shoulder. A few blood tests, chronic anemia, a CT scan and found I had the dreaded C. I couldn't say the word at first. Anyway, about 4 weeks later had the op which went very well. Nothing but complete gratitude and admiration for the NHS. 9 weeks later I am very well and just taken my first dose of Capecitabine adjuvant chemo. Writing this is taking my mind off of analysing if anything is happening! Only another 6 months to go.
Been offered and signed up to a vaccine trial.
Looking forward to chatting with you all and already grateful for the info I have got from you on the forums.
Hi Notjohn I know MMR stands for mis match repair gene but I don’t know much else about it.
You could ring the support desk and have a chat with one of the nurses and see if they can help?
Take care

Evening.
I sent an email to the research centre and they replied very quickly. The trial screening consisted of a circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) test. They compared the tumour removed with my blood and test is negative; so no or undetectable ctDNA in my blood which is a good thing at least based on the premise of the trial.
I wish I had paid more attention when I was being told about all this stuff but was just entirely focused on getting the op done. I'm not sure I wanted to know too much at the time! I need to go back over the tests and logic for embarking on the chemo. That is where the mmr test was relevant and the phrase was also used that some cancer cells were detected if I am recalling correctly. Note I am not scrutinising any of the advice given or decisions made but am now interested in what has gone on! Better late than never!
