I am going to go to Spain in September. Last year June/July I had radio/chemotherapy, and an op in November and am left with a permanent stoma. I was just wondering else has been abroad with a stoma, and if there is anything I should do besides taking lots of pouches, adhesive remover etc.
I feel just the same, I know I would rather take too much than not enough. Someone told me you can get adhesive wipes, instead of the adhesive remover spray, so I think I will ask my supplier if they could send me some nearer the time.
Yes, you can get adhesive wipes but I just take my little can of spray that I normally use. It’s 50 ml and I prefer it to the wipes, which I don’t find as effective.

I find the spray is best and the small spray is allowable on the plane. Take it easy before and during the flight and you won't need the on board facilities (unless long haul perhaps). Indulge yourself once you have landed. I always use Coloplast elastic strips to get a reliable seal around the pouch flange. 100% success rate for over a year.
Tell the truth when buying travel insurance and you shouldn't have much trouble in buying cover. I was dreading that bit.
Your hold luggage is more likely to be lost than your hand luggage.
Sarah, Can you take the spray in your hand luggage? that is why I was considering taking the wipes as I did not think they would allow it.
Thank you for sending me details of where to buy the bag, I will order one as they look so good and will be really handy.
Have not heard of coloplast strips, perhaps I may get some just to give me a bit more confidence whilst away.
Yes, I do this and it’s fine.

Hi MaryChar2046
I use these with my urostomy bag to give me more confidence with the seal. They are called Brava Elastic Strips and are made by Coloplast. They go round either side of the bag once you put the bag on. I also use Independence Fusion Applicators on my skin for extra adhesion. They are lollipop shaped sticks impregnated with adhesive which you wipe on your skin round the stoma before the bag goes on.
These 2 products were game changers for me in terms of keeping the bags on, especially when swimming!

One of my daughters was visiting me last weekend and had one of these bags. They are brilliant and hold lots of stuff. I was very impressed.
