I've mentioned diets before but have just remembered that plain probiotic yoghurt, Yakult or Aptamil, and fish, for me, are all foods that cause the least problems regarding digestion although fish causes a smelly output.
For me - Jellies or jelly sweets, marshmellows and crisps help to thicken output as does rice.
Chicken, for some reason quickly goes through me. I love mature cheddar cheese but it doesn't love me. My system tolerates mild cheddar or edam much better. I love chocolate but that also goes through me. Saying this I can cheat a little if I indulge before 1pm.
Great idea Court. Go for it. I'm in.
I want to talk about how as time passes, sometimes you can eat stuff years later that you couldn't with a new stoma. I can now eat a little dark chocolate which I love but couldn't 11 years ago- same with apple skin.
Saying this - it might be down to medication I'm on for Depression. Apple skin should still be the issue it always was though.

Hi. Wondered if you'd had chance to make progress on stoma / ileostomy diet advice?
I'm now exactly 4 weeks on from surgery, so considering experimenting with a more interesting low fibre diet. Specifically wondering about whether diced mushrooms / mushroom duxelle would be digestible- looking at bought-in Xmas mains for our vegetarian son & his partner, but the nicest looking are based on pea protein, nuts and mushrooms!!!
I’ve had my ilieostomy for 3 1/2 months and have eaten very well diced mushrooms .. all fine
I did raise it but will check if it has made any progress . Thanks for bringing this up .

I also ate mushrooms but made sure I chewed them well. I would be very wary of nuts though as they can clog together and block the stoma. I was ok with peas but found petit pois went through undigested and bobbed about in the toilet bowl when I emptied the bag!
Hi
I have asked admin again about the best way forward. We used to have a great CC over in the stoma group and he was a wealth of information on these issues . We miss him greatly but if we can pull something together as a resource it would be good for others to benefit from .
Thanks for bringing it up again .
