Hello there,
Can anyone explain what to expect with a (right side ascending colon) hemicolectomy. The surgeon said it will probably be keyhole surgery but can't be sure until he gets a look and that my appendix will be coming out too. If anyone can answer any of these questions I'll be eternally grateful!!!
Did you get biopsies pre and post surgery and was the result the same?
How painful is the post op?
How long before I can drive (with keyhole) ?
How long before you can eat and exercise 'normally'?
How has the op changed your life, the way you eat, exercise etc?
And anything else I don't know that might leave me surprised or shocked or both! I've looked through some old posts but if there is a thread that you can direct me to that would be great too...
Thank you!
Good luck Roger and welcome. Unfortunately things have not gone well with my chemo as I am just back from 14 hours in A&E as I have a clot on my lungs! So what with the adverse effects of the Oxyplatin and giving that up but doing so well on the tablets regime I thought seems I am 1 in 100 - always knew I was special! However please don't let it put you off your journey it just proves how we are all unique and what works for one is not always for all. I will now be on blood thinning injections for 14 days and then several months of blood thinning tablets after that. Hey ho onwards and upwards but first some sleep as itwas extremely busy and noisy in our hospital last night!
Blimey ! This is a whole different world and as you say we are all unique. Thanks for sharing even though it sounds super scary. Wishing you all the luck with your next stage. Today I had renewal of my travel insurance refused not that I’m planning on going anywhere. It just endorsed the fact that it’s a whole different ball game for me now. I shall post again after my op but meanwhile dinner and a drink with some old friends.
Not too scary just listen to what your inner voice is telling you it's usually right and the clot is fully treatable small and nowhere near my heart so all good. Just take one thing ata time and enjoy time with old friends nothing better.
