Hi everyone. I am going in next Monday for a right hemicolectomy. Just thinking about post op and bowel issues. .... thinking I will probably need pads after as have read liquid incontinence can be an issue. Though not for everyone. Any experiences of this operation and recovery welcome! Feeling a bit overwhelmed but relieved it's getting sorted out. Thanks.
Just remember if the doctors thought your cancer would grow out of control in such a short time they would have you in there before now Trust them
Also I was the same everyone at work had colds my daughter my partner but somehow I didn’t catch it I hope you don’t either but if you do they will always have a plan b for you
When you go to be admitted you will meet with everyone in the morning just tell them how you feel. I had a bad experience with the epidural when my daughter was born I told them and how scared I was. The doctor giving out the drugs as soon as I walked into the room as I being prepped for surgery offered it to me like it was a lovely fine wine. I’m not great with taking any medication but I made a deal with myself that I’d take whatever was on offer. I was the happiest person when I went off to sleep (because of the drugs) and equally as happy when I woke up. I was slightly relieved that I’d not seen the surgeon in my happy state because I had a right dirty dream about him the night before surgery. I was terrified that I tell him all about it in my post op drugged up state. My friends found it hilarious because they know I never stop talking.
Your dream ! How funny if you had rambled on in your euphoric state! I will adopt the same approach and take all that is on offer.
You are right, I need to switch off my anxious brain and channel something else. It's unfortunate I find my job really dull so don't lose myself in that either. Plus we are largely at home, which can be tedious.
It's so fab you feel well enough to return to work, and nice to go back on a Friday! Xx
