Hello,

I have been diagnosed with rectual cancer that is currently inoperable and has spread to 4 small bits of the lungs. (Plan seems to be chemo, maybe raydio and in the future if possible operation)

I am very scared and feel incredibly alone - I have a great support network but don’t feel it is appropriate to share with them all my fears.

I’m a 33 year old teacher from the south west of England

is there anyone about willing to have a chit chat?

  • Hi Cathy,

I am in a similar situation, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in July with secondary liver cancer also stage 4.  The margins for the rectal cancer means that they cannot remove the tumour at the minute.

In September I had a weeks intensive course of radiotherapy and I had my fist chemo infusion on Wednesday this week and now on tablets for 2 weeks, a week off then start again for 4 rounds.

I am 39 and was initially dismissed by my doctor who told me I was to young for cancer.  My family and friends are a great support network but its hard to tell them your fears as you don't want to add any extra worry to them.

    Happy to chat anytime.

    Lyndsay

  • Hi  ,

I had chemo first then the liver op.  Then radio and the bowel ops.  Once they know your biomarkers, (BRAF/KRAS or wildtype) they will be able to tailor the chemo to your cancer.  I know what you mean about getting hooked up, I was keen to get started ASAP, let the battle commence!x
