Bladder cancer diagnosis 1 year in

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in March 2023. Since my initial Turbt operation I’ve had 3 monthly checkups by cystoscopy, multiple tumours after 6 months which was followed by laser ablation and then 6 weeks of chemotherapy. Every 3 months more tumours have appeared and Laser ablation followed. Has anyone else had multiple tumours after initial surgery.

  • My brother had multiple low/medium grade tumours over a couple of years or so. Eventually was clear long enough that they discharged him. Sadly, it's the nature of BC.

  • Hi Miss69

I was diagnosed in Jan 2023 (day after my 61st birthday), had a TURBT in Feb 2023, 2 low grade tumours removed from the right hand side of my bladder

I had a cystoscopy in June 2023 which was clear

Next cystoscopy was March 2024, multiple (more than 10) tumours seen on the roof/dome of my bladder

    Another TURBT May 2024

Started 6 weeks chemo June 2024

Booked in for a rigid cystoscopy on the 27th Aug 2024

Like you I am very concerned that they have come back so soon and I am very anxious about the 27th

    Take care

    Much Love Tina x

  • Hi Tina, very best of luck with the rigid cystoscopy. I wish we could all say the magic words to ease the anxiety of not knowing. Everything crossed for you. Take care xx

  • Yes thats exactly how I’m feeling. It was devastating to hear that first cancer diagnosis but slightly relieved at the same time that it was only 1 tumour. But then 3 months later it might have regrown & then having to wait another 3 months to hear that  I had 9 was overwhelming. I am unfortunately a worrier I can’t help that. And I know that it could be worse as many other have invasive bladder cancer. My family have been very supportive. Work unfortunately are not so. I joined this forum to be able to talk to others in the same position as I tend to keep my real concerns to myself. Another lady said that it’s quite normal to have multiple tumours grow at first, so that’s what I’m less concerned about now. I really hope you get some good news on your next cystoscopy. Miss69 x

  • Hi Teasswill. Thank you for replying. I’m glad he’s been discharged now. Take care Miss69 x

  • Hi Miss69

I had my rigid cystoscopy and biopsies yesterday (27th Aug 2024)

All went well, I had biopsies from both the original tumour sites and extra biopsies in a few areas of concern (not sure what that means)

Very tired and sore today but glad its over

Now the wait for results begins Fearful

    Much love Tina x
