Can people share their experiences of the last couple of weeks of chemo radiation treatment and what side effects you felt? Thank you x

  • Aslu24 when I first came on this site before my treatment started some members didn’t hold back what the impact of treatment was doing and it scared me half to death! I can fully relate to Irene’s experience regarding childbirth too when the midwives would tell us pregnant mums  at classes just to relax and breathe I was blissfully ignorant of what was to come and she arrived six weeks early. Discomfort can be quite a comforting reassuring word lulling us into this idea all will be okay with a paracetamol but quite frankly it’s not always the case. I did get some good advice on here saying those who have something to shout about come on here but many don’t and we wouldn’t know how they did. Cancer treatment isn’t a walk in the park when it’s in the most sensitive area of the human body. In my local charity support group many of the ladies, most of them have had breast cancer and do discuss their experiences which are varied and the word discomfort is used a lot. I can’t imagine what they have gone through but boy they wouldn’t believe how much discomfort we can experience. This really tough part of our treatment does make you cherish the days when you have done relatively okay dealing with the healing pretty well and just look forward to many more days like it. When I slowly got back to walking more again I would have constant pressure in my pelvic floor and think is this what I have got to live with? It does get better with exercise and getting flexible and I do not have this discomfort anymore. The only fall out from my treatment is food intolerance causing numerous bowel movements. That is a constant challenge but I have now reduce my eating times to breakfast and evening meals but with the same calories and protein requirements to see if that helps and no snacking whatsoever. Will let you know how that goes.
