  • Hi

There's a cancer centre in Northwood: Mount Vernon

I go there for my kidney cancer appointments and I know someone else attends for melanoma appointments, so presume they cover a wide range of cancers..

Is your mum registered with a GP in that area? They should be able to refer her to Mt Vernon

You might find it useful to join the Lung, secondary cancer and Family and friends groups. Can you also add a bit to your profile so ppl know where you're " coming from" please. Thanks

  • Hi  and a second welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that your mum has recently been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and that she has had to travel to London from India for treatment. Is your mum receiving her treatment under the NHS or is she paying for it privately as this may make a difference to recommendations? If she is being seen under the NHS then her GP will be able to help her choose which hospital to be treated under.

I see that you have joined the secondary breast cancer group so could I suggest that you post your question there as there may be people in that group who can tell you where they received their treatment. Clicking on the link I've created will take you back there.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Hello Pankaj,

You could contact Cancer Options. They are a private cancer consultant and Patricia Peer is an excellent medical oncologist. https://canceroptions.co.uk

I hope you and your mum all the best

  • You're best bet then would be to post in the secondary breast cancer group as there you're more likely to connect with other people who have this type of cancer and who might have gone privately.

All the best to you and your mum

  • Hi

Many of the consultants at Mt Vernon also do private work

  • Seems it’s a more holistic type of service at cancer options

  • Thanks hon . Am trying to add about my mom but think need to get off my phone and onto the laptop to do so.
